UFC 264 will include two perennial middleweight fighters in July, with the venue and location yet to be announced. According to knowledgeable individuals, the fight between Omari Akhmedov and Brad Tavares has been added to the UFC 264, awaiting the venue disclosure.
Akhmedov is coming off from a win earlier this January against Tom Breese. The win brings him back to his winning path after his last defeat due to a unanimous decision that came against Chris Weidman a couple of months ago.
Weidman’s win against Akhmedov is the only defeat on Akhmedov’s UFC career following a winning spree that highlighted some UFC big names, including Ian Heinisch and Tim Boetsch. His UFC career also marks a draw that came at the hands of Marvin Vettori.
On the other hand, Tavares comes off from a win against Antonio Carlos Jr earlier this January. Prior to the win, Taraves has suffered 2 defeats against Israel Adesanya and the unbeaten Edmen Shahbazyan. Throwing off Tavares’ defeats, he is among the elite the division has to offer with 13 wins, 3 below the former champion Michael Bisping and only one below Anderson Silva.
The UFC 264, anonymous as the Pay-Per-Click event, will also feature the featherweight bout between Ryan Hill vs. Ilia Topuria and the former flyweight title contenders Jeniffer Maia and Jessica Eye. A trilogy between Conor Mcgregor and Dustin Poirier has also been rumored to be slated for the card, but no headliner on the deck so far.
All the matches lined up on the UFC 264 card are yet to receive an announcement of their locations and venues as none has received a confirmed venue so far. July, especially the 10th, will be a busy day in UFC’s calendar since it’s jampacked with many events under the same card.
